Despite the fact that she is legally blind, it has not hindered Brooke Williamson's ability to create beautiful works of art. She was born with Fundus flavimaculatus, also known as Stargardt disease. This disease is the most common form of inherited juvenile macular degeneration. It is characterized by a reduction of central vision with a preservation of peripheral (side) vision. Her visual loss acuity has been reduced to 20/2600 (legal blindness).
Brooke is a native Tulsan and professional artist since 1993. Even though her degree is in Management Information Systems, she has loved the process of art since her childhood. Her work spans many mediums demonstrating the depth and range of her artistic vision. Brooke's art has been shown in many galleries including the Alexandre Hogue Gallery at the University of Tulsa; along with Foundation's Gallery at Rogers State University; and various art festivals.
In addition to time dedicated to her own work, she has taught art classes for Tulsa Parks and Recreation as part of their Fine Arts Education offerings to the community. She currently offers private lessons at her studio.
